Men’s Love

A woman is said to possess unique qualities that distinguish her.

One of them is love.

It is she who soothes, who gives something light and cozy.

She is said to have a natural gift for:

loving a child,

loving a man.

Then why, according to a woman, must a child be a certain way?

Then why must a man be a certain way?

Why is the one around whom the strongest narrative of love has been built — from religion to stories, books, and films — capable of sending a man into pain and suffering?

He must work.

He must fight.

He must compete.

He must try.

Someone who loves will not send anyone into pain, suffering, discomfort, forcing themselves to perform activities, or monotonous, exhausting work.

Someone who loves will say:

Stop.

Do not go.

If you have to:

force yourself,

exhaust yourself,

suffer,

risk your life,

harm yourself or others —

then do not do it.

Someone who loves will sooner want to protect you, even at the cost of themselves.

Now remember, man.

You.

Father.

Grandfather.

Brother.

Another man.

Who was sooner willing to take comfort away from themselves in order to give comfort to another person?

A woman?

Or a man?

Who, for generations, has signaled that a man’s worth depends on how hard he works for a woman?

How hard he tries.

At the cost of himself.

At the cost of effort.

At the cost of suffering.

At the cost of harming himself or another man.

How could anyone, ever, have concluded that a woman loves at all?

When, for generations, our fathers, grandfathers, and brothers heard that when they went to work, when they gave up their comfort and safety, a woman loved them?

That a woman is capable of love?

How can anyone who agrees to another person risking anything, having to endure burden and stress, exhausting themselves — be called a person who carries love within them or someone who “loves”?

Where is this love?

Because certainly not in a woman.

Love could always be perceived in a man.

In a man who was capable not only of burdening himself to the limit, but also of involving other men in his own love.

He is capable of loving so deeply that he will not only give all of himself and everything he possesses.

He will also involve other men in this love.

So strong and boundless is this love that there is no limit to the number involved or to the length of their involvement.

By nature, love is boundless.

This is exactly what a man is.

This is what men have been like for generations.

Without Adrenaline recommends directing men’s love toward people and places that treat a man as a human being — not as an object or a resource.
